About the Film

Set in the underbelly of rural Pakistan, *The Rooster and the Boy* follows 14-year-old Asif, a servant caught in the brutal world of underground rooster fighting. When his beloved rooster is marked for slaughter, Asif defies the system and escapes with the bird.

Taken in by a blind ex-fighter, he begins to train, not just for survival — but for rebellion.

This film is personal. Growing up in Pakistan, I witnessed many forms of silent injustice — especially among working-class children. *The Rooster and the Boy* is my response to that silence. It’s a story of rage, love, survival — and what it means to fight for something that can’t fight for itself.
